Race For Inclusion

Join The Revolution

We race to support people with intellectual disabilities. We race to build communities where people with ID are treated with respect and given the opportunities they deserve. We race to ensure Special Olympics athletes can reach their full potential, achieve great things, and show the world what they can do when given the opportunity. It’s why we race, and we hope you’ll join the Inclusion Revolution today.

Why We Race

We race to change perceptions of people with intellectual disabilities. We race to show that people with ID have unlimited potential...that they can be world-class athletes, dedicated students, valuable employees, and community leaders. We race to create a society that demands respect and acceptance for everyone. Special Olympics is known worldwide for its work supporting the physical, mental, and social well-being of people with intellectual disabilities. The Race for Inclusion will amplify our effort, while bridging gaps in access and opportunity for a community that represents 3% of the global population.

Ready to take steps for inclusion? It’s easy to form a team and be part of one (or more!) of the races across the state. When you make that first move to start a team, become a team captain, or race as an individual, you are joining a revolution to promote unity, acceptance and inclusion. We’ll provide the tools you need to succeed, and we guarantee you’ll have a blast on race day.

Know of a team that’s in place and want to be part of it? Join a group and work together to fundraise, and come ready to conquer the course on race day. Your team will be a crucial part of cultivating a community and a world of inclusion – where everyone is accepted and valued.

Get my company involved

There’s never been a more important time for inclusion in the workplace. Everyone wants to be seen, heard, and understood. Your organization can be a leader in changing attitudes, and creating a culture of inclusivity and respect by joining a race. Come in costume or your favorite company shirts and know that your steps will have a lasting impact on your community.

No one understands the power of inclusion and acceptance better than our athletes. Talented, hardworking, and all-around awesome people, we hope you'll take a few minutes to get to know them!

The ultimate objective of Special Olympics Florida is to help people with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.
